Countryside tour 04/22/2016

Another day of pretty scenery, cute villages, and great food.  To start this post I just want to give kudos to Harry.  His driving is great.  Amanda was nervous a couple of times, Linda napped, and I navigated.  If you plan to come over here, bring Harry along as your driver.  He drives like an Irishman.

We had  breakfast in the Castle this morning, packed the car, and headed south.  Linda and I had eggs Benedict and Harry and Amanda had an omelet.  Both dishes were very good.  Before we left the castle we toured some cottages they had available for guests.  Very nice, 3 b/r, 4 baths.  Ideal for a couple or a family.  After a visit to the golf course, we turned in the direction of Kinsale.  A trip through the rural countryside that lasted around 2 hours.  This village is one of the ancient villages of Ireland and has a good many seafood restaurants, featuring seafood caught locally. (Kinsale is on the coast, but most of Ireland is on the coast).  My brother, Larry and my sister in law, Pat, were here about two years ago and they ate at a restaurant named "Fishy, Fishy".  Larry said we should eat at this restaurant.  I always do what my big brother says.  So we did.  He was right.  Very good.  We had fish and chips, made with their own special spring water.  We also had a really good dessert, but I had already eaten it before I remembered to take a picture.  I apologize, I know you would have wanted to see a picture of my dessert.

We left Kinsale and proceeded to Kenmare, near the Ring of Kerry.  This will be our base for the next 5 days.  We rented a beautiful stone cottage back in the forest.  You would love it.  After settling in, we went into town and purchased necessary supplies for dinner tonight.  Wine, cheese, crackers, pizza, and coffee for in the morning.  Tomorrow we travel the Ring of Kerry".  Until then...
